This week we will be reading some AR books that I have class sets of. We will not be bringing home our Reading books for a reading assignment this week. I will be testing again on the TPRI. This reading inventory was done at the beginning of the year and I will test this week and then again at the end of the year. Our spelling will be the 101 words every second grader should know, so there will be no spelling assignment on Wednesday, or graded spelling test on Friday, either. Next week we will be back to our regular routine of daily homework and Friday testing. This week we will have Tuesday and Thursday Math homework only.

In language we will be learning punctuation rules and diagraming sentences.

In Math we will start our TEKS math board. It is a daily math activity that will be done on a work sheet and then checked orally. We will also work with the thermometer, adding two digit numbers and measure to the 1/2 inch. We will also be pretesting for a new program called MCLASS Math. It is a math skills inventory, much like the TPRI reading inventiory. I will share more with you on this when the inventory is completed.

In science we will be studying Physical Science: force, magnets and electricity.

I will send the book order in on Friday.

I hope you had a great holiday break. I surely did and now I am ready to get back into a routine. Thanks again for all the thoughtful gifts for Christmas. I have enjoyed them all!!
