Family and Consumer Sciences (formerly Home Economics) is my passion!! My name is Jill Harris and I teach a variety of semester classes in the Family and Consumer Sciences area. I enjoy the classes I teach because of my interest in all of our areas. Spring 2003 I am teaching Preparation for Parenting, Housing, and Textile and Apparel Design.
Preparation for Parenting includes pregnancy, birth, infancy, toddlers, preschoolers and schoolage children. Students will have the opportunity to take home the Baby Think It Over as a major project grade. This is a computerized baby that simulates the experience of caring for a newborn.
Housing covers the different styles of houses, types of houses, purchasing a house, budgeting for a house, and managing a house.
Textile and Apparel Design class will focus on the different types of textiles, elements and principles of design, fabrics and finishes, and natural and manufactured fibers. Students will participate in several projects during the course of the semester.
I enjoy working with High School students and especially enjoy their enthusiasm and interest in learning more about the subjects that will impact their life forever!
