Unit of Study:
Rules and Manners for School

Reading:
No basal this week. We will begin basal and reading words next week. ( I will be reading a lot of fun books this week about the first day of school and manners. )

Vocabulary Words: none ( We will use this time to review color words .)

Spelling: We will begin spelling words after Labor Day.

Math: We will be talking about the month, date, number chart of 1 – 30, writing numbers 1, 4, 5, and number order from 1 to 9. A lot of the first couple of weeks is a review.

Notes from the teacher:
1. I am so excited to have your child in my class! The next couple of days will be a learning time for me and your child. I’m at the age where names don’t stick in my brain as easy!!!!!!!!! But I will know their name by the end of the day!
2. Be sure to fill out all the papers in the manila folder and send them back to school with your child. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
3. Next week, your child will need a small baby picture of him / her. It will be given back in a book that they will be making for you.
4. This Friday I will be sending home one poster board and instructions for their first project. These posters will be placed out in the hall when your child is the Star Student for the week. (Every child will be the star student at one time or another.) An example of a poster is in my room. They are due Sept. 8.
