  Mrs. Jocelyn Furr

My name is Jocelyn Furr. I have been teaching at Wylie High since 1995. I enjoy teaching Spanish and working with the students at Wylie. I also love to travel. I have visited and spent time in several Spanish-speaking countries including Mexico, Spain, Uruguay, and Chile. My husband grew up in Peru where his parents were missionaries. This summer (2005) we got to spend 2 weeks in Peru--it's a beautiful country!!

My main goal for Spanish 2 is to help students feel more comfortable in the Spanish language, building on the foundation set in Spanish 1. They will become more comfortable with the present tense and begin using the past tenses; they will also add to their vocabulary. I will also try to help them gain a better understanding of the variety of cultures in the Spanish-speaking world.

In Spanish 4, the main goal is to use Spanish every day! We only speak Spanish in class, so students are able to really grow in their ability to speak and understand the language. We will also work some on writing and reading, including spending some time in part of the novel Don Quijote. In May, some students will choose to take the CLEP test so they can get college credit for their learning.
