Time to start AR Reading :)

Spelling Lists are kept in the students' binders for each six weeks. The words will also be on the back of our weekly newsletter. They can study ahead of time. I give a pretest on Mondays, and if they make a 100 on the 20 regular words, they do not have to take the test on Friday. There are 5 bonus words each weeks also, only on Monday with the pretest. These words do not count against them if they miss them.

AR Reading time will be given each day; and an extended time will be given on Fridays. Students are encouraged to read at home to earn AR points. There is a requirement of 10 points per 6 weeks to receive a grade of 100 for that grading period. Each student will have a personal goal also; if they achieve this goal they will receive 20 bonus points for that six weeks.

Each six weeks we will read a novel as a class. There will be vocabulary tests each week, and several comprehension quizzes. The students will have the vocabulary words in their binders for the whole novel. These words will also be on the weekly newsletter.
